Victor de Lima was born November 8, 1903 in Burtan British Guiana as a British Citizen. Having lived his first 20 years in Georgetown British Guiana he made the decision to move to the United States of America. On May 25 1923 he arrived in New York City. He was a designer in the Jewelry business and settled up town on the upper west side of Manhattan. His new address at 718 West 180th Street was filled with colorful people and colorful activities. While living in this new city he started to take special interest in the cityscape and all the wonderful life around him. He started painting the activity he witnessed on the upper west side and fell in love with expressing himself through painting. He took courses at the Artist Students League of New York, and later became a member of the National Arts Club. July 19 1945 de Lima became a US citizen.

He traveled extensively abroad painting different famous cities and landmarks. Most of his paintings are colorful scenes of Paris France, New York City, Italian Villages and Mexican Villages. His work was offered in many high end art galleries in large cities around the world. Victor de Lima passed away on Nov 19 ,1999.
